(Providenciales, Turks and Caicos Islands – Monday, May 7th, 2018): InterHealth Canada – Turks and Caicos Islands Hospital wishes to announce the appointment of former Nurse Manager, Mikette Been as Chief of Clinical Services, effective immediately.

In this role, Been becomes a member of TCI Hospital’s Senior Management Team and is charged with responsibility of Surgical Programs/Biomedical services, Emergency Department, Outpatient Department, Oncology, Nutrition Services and Inpatient Services, which include the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Maternity Unit, High Dependency Unit and General Ward.

The announcement is perfectly aligned with International Nurses Week observed on May 6th-12th 2018 to celebrate the profession. Been has consistently climbed the promotional ladder within her field of expertise. She began her pursuit of Nursing at the then West Indies College in Mandeville, Jamaica in 1989. Upon graduating, she returned to the Turks and Caicos Islands and served as a Staff Nurse within the Ministry of Health & Human Services at the then Grand Turk Hospital and Myrtle Rigby Health Complex in Providenciales.

Been became a Specialist Midwife in 1999 after completing further training at the University of the West Indies, Jamaica. She was later promoted to Nurse Supervisor until her transition to the Turks and Caicos Islands Hospital in April 2010. Since the commencement of her tenure with InterHealth Canada (TCI) Ltd, the private health care management company, Been was promoted to Nurse Manager of Inpatient Services, and later Deputy Chief of Clinical Services in 2016. She has been mentored and trained to assume her latest role, which is the highest clinical position in the executive branch of the organization.

Commenting on the new appointment, Mikette Been said: “I am humbled to have been given this opportunity to serve the community in such a capacity. I will endeavor to perform my duties faithfully and to the best of my ability with God’s guidance.”

Chief Executive Officer of InterHealth Canada TCI, Gaston Levac also extended congratulatory remarks and best wishes. It is equally gratifying that Mikette is a Turks and Caicos Islander and is very knowledgeable of the culture and community.
