Community Outreach

Community Outreach and Engagement

Every day we touch lives in the medical setting, but our impact surpasses our four walls.

Turks and Caicos Islands Hospital is committed to serving communities and creating change across the Turks and Caicos Islands. Our deep-rooted passion for outreach activities is reflected in our sponsorship profile and the series of free health and wellness screenings, lectures, health fairs and collaborations with non-profit organizations and service clubs.

Acts of Service and Donations

Donations have been given to worthy causes that are important to improving the quality of life in our communities, especially initiatives related to advancing science education, environment, health and safety.

Our health care professionals also participate in a number of charity walks throughout the year, and empower residents through educational sessions about health. Our health experts have presented at seminars on variety of health topics and lifestyle issues.

People-Centered Partnerships

The Turks and Caicos Islands Hospital and the Turks and Caicos Islands Community College (TCICC) have signed an affiliation agreement aimed at creating synergistic opportunities for Turks and Caicos Islanders, through the development of instructional programs to support a variety of health care careers for local students. The agreement is the first of its kind for TCI Hospital and will also garner opportunities for students in fields of study such as business and engineering, in addition to programs related to nursing and medical sciences.

Turks and Caicos Islands Hospital is also a major partner and sponsor of several program including the country’s annual Clinic Exploration Program (TCI CEP) and provides CPR and other mentorship and training to enrollees.

The initiative forms part of the Ministry of Health, Agriculture and Human Services (MHAHS) mandate to target and expose secondary school students to various careers available within the local health care sector. The partnership was extended to include the Turks and Caicos Islands Hospital by the Ministry of Health, Agriculture and Human Services in 2016.

The goal of TCI CEP is to form partnerships with local practices in the surrounding communities to help prepare the future generation to meet the increasing demand for quality health care practitioners. Each participant is required to complete at least 40 hours of volunteer service before the end of the five-week program. Over 50 students are registered every year.
