InterHealth Canada Corporate donates to Cancer Awareness NPO’s

(Providenciales, Turks and Caicos Islands – Tuesday, 29 October, 2019): The National Cancer Society and TCI Cancer Foundation are expected to receive a $2,500 and $1,000 donation respectively, following the cancer walks held on Providenciales and Grand Turk during the month of October, courtesy of InterHealth Canada Corporate.

The private health care management company sponsored a run to donate component, which is a commitment to donate $5 to the cancer charities for every person that supported the fitness events. The non-profit organizations are separate entities with a similar mandate, which is to raise cancer awareness and assist persons afflicted with the disease.

October is observed as breast cancer awareness month. Due to the association between blood clots and cancer risk factors, the company partnered with the local cancer awareness organizations across the two main islands to host and sponsor fitness events as an alternative to the annual stand-alone Stop The Clot event this year.

The National Cancer Society walk was held on Saturday, October 5th 2019 at IGA Gourmet in Providenciales and a second walk was held in Grand Turk on October 19th 2019. The latter event was organized by InterHealth Canada and the TCI Cancer Foundation was the beneficiary in the smaller community.

The company also sponsored a run, walk or cycle to win segment with a caveat of health savvy prizes for event attendees and provided complimentary health screenings for blood pressure, blood glucose, body mass index and random cholesterol with a team of nurses and doctors present at both events.
