Mikette Been began her pursuit of Nursing at the then West Indies College in Mandeville, Jamaica in 1989. Upon graduating, she returned to the Turks and Caicos Islands and served as a Staff Nurse within the Ministry of Health & Human Services at the then Grand Turk Hospital and Myrtle Rigby Health Complex in Providenciales.
Been became a Specialist Midwife in 1999 after completing further training at the University of the West Indies, Jamaica. She was later promoted to Nurse Supervisor until her transition to the Turks and Caicos Islands Hospital in April 2010.
Since the commencement of her tenure with InterHealth Canada (TCI) Ltd, Been was promoted to Nurse Manager of Inpatient Services, and later Deputy Chief of Clinical Services in 2016. She has been mentored and trained to assume her latest role, which is the highest clinical position in the executive branch of the organisation.
